Director of Project Finance

Position Overview:
I'm working with a leading Utility-Scale IPP, who are seeking a highly skilled Director of Project Finance to lead and support financial initiatives critical to expanding its renewable energy portfolio. The ideal candidate will have robust experience leading in the structuring and executing project finance transactions, with a strong understanding of debt, tax equity, and corporate finance. In addition to hands-on deal management, this role will involve mentoring junior team members in financial modeling, deal structuring, and investment analysis, contributing to the team's professional development and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deal Structuring & Execution: Lead and manage the structuring, negotiation, and execution of project finance transactions, including debt and tax equity financing for utility-scale projects.
- Corporate Finance Initiatives: Support strategic corporate finance initiatives that enhance the company’s capital structure and support growth objectives.
- Mentorship & Development: Mentor and train junior staff, particularly in financial modeling, due diligence, and deal structuring. Cultivate talent and support professional growth within the finance team.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with development, engineering, operations, and other teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines. Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments.
- Due Diligence: Oversee and coordinate due diligence efforts, ensuring all risks and opportunities are identified, evaluated, and appropriately mitigated.
- Investor Relations: Engage with existing and potential investors, providing regular updates and fostering strong, strategic relationships to support the company's financing objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in project finance, corporate finance, or related areas within the renewable energy or utility sector.
- Proven track record in leading across debt financing, tax equity structuring, and corporate financial strategy.
- Advanced skills in financial modeling, with a strong ability to teach and guide junior staff on complex analytical techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships across various teams and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
